Getting started

Requirements, install, first run, updates

Requirements

MacApple Silicon
macOS13 or later
Shellzsh, started as a login shell
Claude CodeOptional. Adds notifications, pane status and session resume

There is no Intel build.

Install

  1. Download the DMG.
  2. Drag Deftty to Applications.
  3. Open it from Applications.

The app and the DMG are notarized, so Gatekeeper opens the app without a warning. Homebrew is coming.

First run

Deftty opens one window with a sidebar, a tab bar holding a shell, and a bottom bar. The default workspace is called "일반" (General) and has no folder. Press + in the sidebar and pick a project folder to create a workspace.

Two things are off until you turn them on in Settings (⌘,):

  • Korean font. Press Install next to Noto Sans CJK KR. Skip it if you never type CJK.
  • Claude notifications. Turn on "Claude notifications". Deftty asks for notification permission and adds its hooks to ~/.claude/settings.json. See Claude Code.

Update

Updates arrive through Sparkle. Use Check for Updates… in the app menu. On first launch Sparkle asks whether to check automatically. The current version is in About Deftty.

To remove Deftty completely, follow Privacy and uninstall.
